Urban Gundog

Next courses starting at Kempshott Village Hall 7 - 8pm on Wednesday 14th April and on 26th May 2010

This is a six week course that is suitable for any breed of dog over 4 months old that is not aggressive to dogs or people.


This course is designed for any breed of dog who likes to retrieve. You will need a friendly dog that is interested in toys. (note: a formal 'polished' retrieve is not required.) The course aims to improve the dog's obedience and responsiveness using traditional gundog exercises.
Over the six sessions you will learn how to train:

* Retrieve to hand (including blind and directed retrieves, depending on ability)
* Heelwork on and off lead
* Stop at a distance
* Recalls
* Stays

Retrieving exercises use toys and dummies (no live or dead game)and will not include real or simulated gunshots. Handlers can choose whether to use a whistle or verbal commands alongside hand signals. All exercises are trained using reward based methods with the emphasis on fun for dog and handler.

The cost of the course is £60 and there is a limit of 7 dogs.
