Meet the Trainers


Alex Johnson

Alex Johnson BSc (hons) PGCE Adv. Cert. Canine Behaviour & Training (COAPE)

Alex is a member of the Association Of Pet Dog Trainers (number 654) and a member of the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Trainers and Instructors

As a qualified teacher with over 15 years experience, Alex specialises in class training. She is particularly interested in training 'difficult' dogs by using positive, motivational means.

Alex also competes successfully with her beagles in Obedience, Agility and at Breed Shows. More recently she has started Working Trials with her youngest hound, Pocket, qualifying her CDex.

She regularly gives training demonstrations at Crufts with her ex-laboratory beagle Hector, where they represent the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

They have also represented the Dogs Trust in the Rescue Dog Agility Display Team at both Crufts and Discover Dogs.

Alex has also made several TV appearances with her beagles (most recently on This Morning, for National Train Your Dog Week) as well as training them for advertising and photoshoots.

Mandy Nutley

Mandy Nutley BSc (Hons) Dip CABT (COAPE) NOCN, Certificate in Applied Animal Behaviour.

Mandy runs her business ‘Diamond Dogs’ from her home near Basingstoke.

She is particularly interested in animal psychology and the way that people and animals interact. She has completed courses in animal behaviour, natural horsemanship, dog training methods, and human/animal psychology.

Mandy works as a trainer supporting a variety of dog training classes and also runs her own puppy foundation and older dog training classes in Oakley near Basingstoke.

Her areas of particular special interest are one to one dog training sessions and consultations for canine behavioural problems.

Mandy provides advice as an Animal Behaviour Consultant for a local veterinary practice as well as accepting referrals from other veterinary surgeries.

Mandy is also qualified to microchip dogs and cats and provides a home visiting service for clients. She also works in liaison with a local animal rescue charity to microchip animals that are rehomed.
